Frequently Asked Questions
Is a lower GL always better? Not necessarily. Glycemic load is one tool among many. A snack with a low GL but high saturated fat or sodium may still not be the best choice. Use GL alongside overall nutrition, not instead of it.
Why do some crackers have a GI above 100? They should not. The GI scale runs from 0 to 100 using glucose as the reference. Our calculator caps GI at 120 only to allow for slightly different reference scales such as white bread, but the typical GI for crackers is between 50 and 90.
