Formula Explained
Glycemic load was introduced by researchers Walter Willett and Simin Liu at Harvard as a way to combine carbohydrate quality (GI) with carbohydrate quantity. The formula is simple:
Net carbs per serving = (carbohydrates per 100 g − fiber per 100 g) × serving size ÷ 100
Glycemic load = GI × net carbs per serving ÷ 100
